JCI Dominica President Successfully Graduates from the 2019 JCI American Leadership Academy.

May 14th marked a momentous occasion for Junior Chamber International (JCI) Dominica as President – Mr. James Rodney successfully graduated from the American Leadership Academy (ALA) which took place in San Martin Mendoza, Argentina from May 11th to 14th, 2019.

 Mr. Rodney expressed his gratitude for the opportunity stating, “I was indeed honored to represent JCI West Indies, JCI Dominica and serve as an ambassador for my country Dominica. The lessons I have learned are lessons I hope to implement within JCI Dominica so that we can use this as a model to develop our own leadership here in Dominica, so as to afford other young persons the opportunity to develop themselves, to inspire them and help in the overall molding of greater young active leaders. Additionally, I would like to once again thank Discover Dominica for their support towards ensuring my attendance.”

The American Leadership Academy comprised of an intense three (3) days of workshops aimed at developing leadership skills so as develop one’s ability to share ideas and empower others to come forward to develop their skills. Gaining this skillset is critical to ensure the continuity in executing the JCI model of the Active Citizen Framework; a tool used to create sustainable projects of impact in communities and ultimately drive the goal of JCI which is to change the world in a manner that is bigger, more united and more influential.

Mr. Rodney further expressed the benefits of attending this Academy stating. “The ALA provides a wonderful opportunity to broaden your mind and embrace being an active citizen, gain personal development through the training offered and step forward to act and grow in leadership roles that will benefit both JCI Dominica and all sectors it interacts with.”

 In addition to participating in the American Leadership Academy, Mr. Rodney acted as JCI Americas Conference Award Judge and formed part of the JCI West Indies delegation, by representing JCI Dominica at the JCI Conference of the Americas also taking place in Mendoza, Argentina from May 15th to 18th, 2019. The conference brought together delegates from all the Americas to receive Training and discuss sustainable solutions to many challenges that we hope can create a positive impact and change in our communities all over the world.

 He was joined by fellow National Councilor Janet Taylor from JCI Barbados who represented JCI West Indies as the Alternate.
