The Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) and the Central Provincial Government (CPG) have strengthened their partnership following a two-day meeting in Kwikila, Central Province, aimed at improving tax compliance, revenue collection, and public service delivery.
The discussions focused on reviewing and strengthening the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing quarterly engagements, and providing office space for the IRC within the Provincial Administration to enhance collaboration.
A major focus was the implementation of Section 65A GST withholding measures, which officials say will improve tax compliance, increase revenue collection, and promote greater transparency in the use of public funds.
During the meeting, the Rigo District Development Authority presented a GST remittance cheque for May, highlighting its strong compliance performance. Officials reported that Rigo District achieved a 97 percent compliance rate in 2025, while Central Province recorded an overall compliance level of 98 percent.
Acting Commissioner General Sam Loi emphasized the importance of GST as a sustainable source of revenue for both national and provincial governments, while Deputy Provincial Administrator Bala Kapa reaffirmed the province’s commitment to supporting the full implementation of GST measures and strengthening cooperation with the IRC.
Both parties agreed to finalize and sign a revised MoU by June 23, 2026, as they work to boost revenue performance and improve services for residents of Central Province.
