Invest Dominica Authority (IDA) embarked on an Investment Promotion Mission to Martinique on July 1 and 2, 2024, accompanied by a select group of local businesses with export ready potential. The mission, aimed at exploring new business opportunities, strengthening trade relations, promoting investment opportunities, and enhancing business ties between Dominica and Martinique, was made possible through collaboration with the Collectivité Territoriale de Martinique (CTM), Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Martinique (CCI Martinique) and sponsorship from the local business community.
During the two-day mission, there were presentations to the French business community about investment opportunities in the Dominican economy, strategic B2B meetings, networking sessions, engagement with administrative and partner agencies, and visits to explore potential collaborations and investments. The delegation also showcased Dominica’s diverse offerings in pharmaceuticals, essential oils, spices, and agribusiness, underscoring the unique products of the island nation. Discussions were held with firms interested in aquaculture, product distribution, technological solutions, construction, cosmetics manufacturing and distribution, and marine services.
Initial assessments indicate that the Mission was successful with investment opportunity presentations to over fifty (50) entrepreneurs. Forty (40) B2B meeting engagements concerning interests to do business on Dominica was held by IDA and a further twenty-five (25) B2B meetings were held by the Dominican business delegates. Additionally, a total of six (6) press engagements were attended to include radio and television interviews, and multiple site visits were conducted to include to the Martinique Agro-Resources and Research Center which is responsible for product testing and development.
