Minister for Housing, Hon.Reginald Austrie, has confirmed that the construction of about 200 homes have been approved under the World Bank Housing Recovery Project(HRP).

He said, “Planning approval for designs are being submitted by the design firm hired to complete this process and beneficiaries will participate in the selection of their contractors to engage the work under their behalf.” The Minister also confirmed that about 45 local contractors will be recommended for building the homes.

“So we have certified these contractors, we will present those names to the homeowners, the beneficiary, and you will have the opportunity to decide who you want to construct your homes for you”.

The HRP is an ‘island wide project designed to replace destroyed houses while building resilience in the housing sector in Dominica’.
