Flourish Dominica is a nonprofit organization created to inspire a new generation intent on elevating the human experience in the areas of people, planet, peace, purpose, progress, partnership, and philanthropy.

Ultimately, Flourish Dominica is working to transform Dominica into a green, prosperous, and peaceful nation where everyone can flourish.

What we do

The primary function of the organization is to develop Dominica’s youth into visionary and conscious future leaders who can co-create a flourishing future for the Caribbean and the World. Therefore, Flourish Dominica strives to create leaders rooted in our core values: integrity, altruism, unity, compassion, sustainability, and excellence.

How we do it

Through leadership, mentorship, essay, art, and environmental competitions, among others, we will co-create a flourishing Dominica where the upcoming generation can thrive.The organization aspires to achieve these goals collectively and transparently, therefore, we will work closely with our team, mentors, partners, sponsors, and board of directors to educate, elevate, and empower the youth.

Ongoing Competition

The 2022 Flourish Dominica Essay Competition -High School

Students from every high school in Dominica are invited to participate in a distinguished essay competition organized by The Flourish Dominica Organization.

This years’ theme, Flourish: Visions for Life with Nature and each other, invites the participants to explore a topic beyond the boundaries of the high school curriculum and create an inspiring and visionary contribution to the future of Dominica.

Furthermore, this essay competition arouses students to develop and polish qualities of, great writing: creative thinking, sharp rational, coherent thought, and engaging style.

Title & Description

Topic: The year is 2030 and you and your team would like to celebrate the achievements your country Dominica has realized in the categories of people, planet, peace, purpose, progress, partnership, and philanthropy. Describe the current state of the nation in each of these categories and your vision for continued progress.

The essay should be written in accordance with this years’ theme, Flourish: Visions for Life with Nature and each other.

How to enter:

Submissions for this Essay Competition are welcome between Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022, and Sunday, 31st July 2022 at 11:59pm, Atlantic Standard Time (AST). Participants must upload their essay on the Flourish Dominica website. www.flourishdominica.com

Categories:

The competition is structured according to two categories.

  • Junior category for students from ages 13-15 (700-1000 words)
  • Senior category for ages 16–18 (1200-1500 words).

Prizes:

  • The top 3 winners in the senior category will each receive a 1000xcd cash prize and a tablet.
  • The top 3 winners in the junior category will each receive a 500xcd cash prize and a tablet.
  • The schools of each winner will receive a 300xcd cash price and a school supply hamper.

Other prizes include mentorship from some of the most inspirational and successful leaders and Entrepreneurs around the world, Best Selling Books from leading authors on The Human Potential, among others.

In addition, the top 10 participants in each category will be invited to attend the Annual Award Gala where the winners of both categories will present highlights from their award-winning papers.

Judges:

The essay competition will be judged by passionate Dominicans with a graduate or post graduate degree.
