Farmers Encouraged To Apply To World Bank Project Even If They Are Not Landowners
The Ministry of Agriculture has responded to the concerns of farmers and relaxed the requirements for the Dominica Emergency Agriculture Livelihood and Climate Resilience Programme (DEALCRP).
Hon.Fidel Grant, Minister responsible for Agriculture said, “We have written to the World Bank and have asked that they modify the programme that farmers who had land issues could benefit. In terms of the requirement for land that has been replaced with a receipt that you have been selling to either Dexia or another supermarket or that you have been a farmer and you are the holder of a produce sellers license”.
The Minister emphasized  that there is “zero political influence and interference” in the programme. Therefore, farmers should not hesitate to apply. They must fill out Expressions of Interest forms and submit same to their extension officer.
The programme which is funded by the World Bank has allocated 67 million dollars for Agriculture.
