Dominican writer pens first book of poetry

Dominican writer, Jermainia Colaire-Didier, has published and released her first book of inspirational poems entitled “For His Glory.”

The book is 54 pages long and consists of 26 spiritual poems inspired by scripture.

According to the author, it encourages and exhorts the reader to undertake a spiritual journey of self-reflection.

A retired French lecturer, Colaire-Didier has a passion for creative writing. She has participated in the annual Cultural Division Literary Competition for many years. There in 1984 her story “Ma Mary and de five-dollar house” received honorary mention. In 2003 her short story “Offoy’s Wake” placed third. In 2020 she emerged winner in the English Poetry Category with her poem “Do You Read Me?” In 2021, she captured first place again in English poetry with her poem “Goodbye Mango Tree.” In 2022 she captured first place in the Short Story category with “War of Stones.”  

Her writings have also appeared in “Montage Domnik: New Stories and Poems from Dominica” which was published by Waitukubuli Writers of which she is a member.
