Toronto-based Dominican artist Reisha Felix continues to make a name for herself on the international art scene, with her latest achievement literally rolling through the streets of Canada. One of her signature artworks, which celebrates the beauty of Black hair, has been wrapped onto a Durham Region Transit Bus as part of the Regional Municipality of Durham’s 2025 Black History Month campaign.
Reisha, an award-winning fine arts and multimedia artist, was born and raised in Dominica before relocating to Canada. Known for her unique artistic style—incorporating acrylic paints and hot glue to create textured, touchable pieces—she has consistently used her work to highlight Afro-Caribbean culture and the significance of Black hair in Black identity.
Speaking about the milestone, Reisha expressed her excitement:
“When I started my #artventure back in 2016, I would never have imagined that this would be happening! I know my art is
, but seeing it come to life on a public bus just hits DIFFERENT!”
Her selection for this project marks not only her first major public art display in Canada but also her first collaboration with a Canadian municipality—a historic and deeply personal achievement.
