In a ceremony held at the Douglas-Charles International Airport, Cuban Ambassador Miguel Fraga and Dr. Lynora Fevrier Drigo, Chief Medical Officer of Dominica, welcomed 12 new Cuban health collaborators, who will join the Cuban Medical Brigade providing services in what is also known as the “Island of Nature”.

During her welcoming remarks on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Drigo highlighted the importance of the presence of these professionals in the country and expressed her pride in recalling that she herself studied and graduated in medicine in Cuba. 

Ambassador Fraga, for his part, reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to solidarity and international cooperation, underlining the value of this type of exchange. “The mission of our collaborators is clear: to improve the quality of life and health of the people of Dominica. We are fully confident that they will achieve this with the dedication and professionalism that characterize Cuban doctors,” said the Ambassador.

The group of Cuban collaborators is composed of specialists, nurses and technicians, who will be distributed in various health centers throughout the island. Their work will be key in strengthening primary care and other essential medical services.

This welcoming ceremony not only celebrates the arrival of these professionals, but also reaffirms the historic ties of brotherhood and cooperation between Dominica and Cuba, built on the basis of solidarity and mutual support in the most crucial moments.
