Death announcement of Iona Maria Sablon Nicholas of Mero, who peacefully departed this life at a remarkable age of 101 at her residence

We announce the passing of our beloved Iona Maria Sablon Nicholas of Mero, who peacefully departed this life at a remarkable age of 101 at her residence on February 21, 2026.  

She left to mourn:  

9 Children: Janet Damier, Geraldine Joseph, Randolph, Neville, Loreen, Anice, Rickey, Nicholas, (Roosevelt and Arthur (Deceased)  

18 Grandchildren: Verona, Vernie, Vern, Dorian, Vincia, Deon, Maureen, Kim, Eileen, Gloreen, Alison, Larry, Nethia, Ordel, Denise, Junie, Latisha and Keston ( Deceased) 

34 Great Grandchildren   

6 great grandchildren 

1 Sister: Margaret Sablon  

1 daughter in law: Vernie Nicholas  

1 son in law: Anthony Joesph  

Numerous Nieces, nephews , grand nieces, and grand nephews including: Zinthia, Fitz, and Waswheel 

Close friends and relatives including Sheila and Elkin Mason, the priest and the Sablon family in Mero and St Joseph.  

Many other relatives, friends, and the entire community of Mero both here and abroad are to numerous too mention.  

The body of the late Iona Sablon can be viewed on Monday 16th March 2026 at 2:30 at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. The funeral mass will take place at 3:00p.m. followed by interment at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery
