HAVANA, Cuba (ACN) — At seven o’clock on Sunday morning, thousands of voting precincts opened their doors for Cubans to countersign the new constitution after an extensive process of collective consultation that began almost a year ago.
After singing the National Anthem and showing those present that the ballot boxes were empty, citizens flocked to the voting booths to vote for a text that introduces important changes aimed at adapting to the new realities of the country.
According to ACN, people formed in lines early in the morning. That early vote has become a democratic tradition on the Caribbean island.
