Two Crystal Cruise vessels have been diverted to the Bahamas to avoid a US judge order to seize one of the company’s vessels as part of a lawsuit over unpaid fuel with Peninsula Petroleum .
The Crystal Sympathy diverted to the Bahamas just last week to avoid Miami where the fuel company planned to seize the vessel.
A second vessel, the Crystal Serenity which departed from Miami on January 17 took a similar course diverting to the Bahamas after being denied entry into Aruba on Friday.
All the passengers of both vessels were transferred by ferry to Port Everglades and taken to a Fort Lauderdale hotel on the 31st of January ,2022.
In a statement released by Crystal Cruise they stated that all passengers will be fully reimbursed for any applicable airline change fees.
“There are simply no words to express our deep regret and disappointment” stated the company’s spokesman Vance Guilliken.
The warrant for seizure is part of a lawsuit that accuses the cruise line of failing to pay 4.6 million dollars for fuel. A federal US judge issued the warrant for seizure of the ship on January 20th and it will take charge one the vessels enter U.S waters.
