The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency recently convened its 17th Technical Advisory Committee (TAC 17) Meeting in the Virgin Islands, bringing together regional leaders, national disaster coordinators, and technical experts.
The high-level meeting focused on strengthening coordination and advancing disaster risk management efforts across the Caribbean. Key discussions centered on enhancing regional preparedness, improving emergency response systems, and developing strategies to address an increasingly complex and evolving hazard landscape.
Participants from 20 member states also reaffirmed their commitment to deeper collaboration, recognizing the importance of unified action in mitigating disasters and protecting vulnerable communities.
Officials say the meeting further emphasized long-term resilience building, including support for strengthening national disaster systems and advancing forward-looking planning initiatives across the region.
