Dear All,

Carnival 2024 was a successful debut year for Setwah Official through the launch of Setwah J’ouvert Band: The Ultimate Dutty Experience. Setwah strategically entered the carnival space for the following reasons: (1) To diversify the carnival options in the Commonwealth of Dominica, (2) To encourage the economic growth of the carnival industry through a singular focus on J’ouvert in Marigot, and Dominica, (3) To focus on the historic and symbolic importance of J’ouvert as part of a larger story of freedom for a previously enslaved people, and (4) To brand the village of Marigot as the J’ouvert Capital to support the village’s independent development and long term economic earning potential.

The events of Setwah J’ouvert Morning 2024 were historic the first, full-service J’ouvert Band in the village of Marigot to execute on a high level, providing attire, alcohol, food, security, sound, a full entertainment lineup and of course The Ultimate Dutty Experience with our signature, body and eye safe, paint and powder.

Of course, this was only possible through our extremely supportive DUTTY MASQUARADERS! Thank you to the hundreds of Official Dutty Masqueraders who stormed the streets in their Dutty Angel, Dutty Saint, and Dutty Tees J’ouvert wear. Thank you for your impressive support. Setwah, which is a play on the French phrase “C’est Toi” (It’s You) was created with the customer as the focal point and we appreciate all the Five Star Reviews. Thank You to the thousands who joined the masquerade and supported Setwah Official. We appreciate you all deeply and truly.

After a singular showing, Setwah is flattered by the development/revival/improvement of other carnival focused entities in Marigot. The goal has always been to raise the bar for the development of the village and the country, by extension. Unfortunately, Setwah will not participate in Carnival 2025, as we are hard at work on something Bigger and DUTTIER! We will see you all in our next chapter.
