American killed by three sharks on vacation in The Bahamas

NASSAU, Bahamas – An American tourist died following a shark attack in The Bahamas Wednesday, according to a representative for the Royal Bahamas police force.

Jordan Lindsay, 21, of Torrance, California, was snorkelling at the time near Rose Island, It’s a 30-minute boat ride away from the capital, Nassau. Moments before the attack, Lindsay’s parents tried to warn her but reportedly could not hear her parents’ warnings while she was in the water.

Deputy Commissioner Paul Rolle told reporters that three sharks attacked Lindsay at approximately 2 pm. She was bitten on her legs, buttocks and arms – her right arm was bitten off, Rolle stated.

Reserve Superintendent Ronnie Bannister told reporters that Lindsay was pulled from the water and rushed to Doctor’s Hospital in Nassau, where she was pronounced dead.

In a tribute, her relatives said “Jordan had the most beautiful, gentle soul and she will be missed deeply. “She was a beloved daughter, sister, girlfriend and friend.”

Lindsay’s relatives have started a GoFundMe page to pay for costs to return her body to California and her funeral.

She was a communications major at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. The university released a statement stating that they were “saddened” to hear the news about Lindsay, continuing she was “a devoted animal lover and climate change advocate.”
