Honorable Denise Charles, Minister of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiative expressed her excitement at what can be termed a historic day in Dominica, following American Airlines inaugural flight to the nature island.
“Today is a historic day for Dominica. Today starts a new and exciting chapter for tourism and travel to our destination. This new service will connect over forty (40) US cities to Dominica and will make Miami a connecting hub for travelers from Canada, Asia and Europe,” she noted.
Moreover, she added that the Ministry of Tourism through Dominica Discover Authority (DDA), in its quest to make Dominica a major sustainable tourist destination in the world has embarked on numerous campaigns that seek to make the clear distinction between Dominica and Dominican Republic, to highlight the natural attraction spots and culture and to place Dominica on every tourist bucket list.
Additionally, she explained that Ministry is working tirelessly to rebrand the industry so as to promote the natural resources and the people. According to her, it is their aim to ensure that persons are always intrigued when they come to Dominica. Charles went on to express her excitement for the Diasporans who no longer have to wait long hours to come home. “I am also excited for businesses who will find it more easier to connect with clients, partners and the market,” she voiced.
Charles went on to stress that tourism is everybody’s business. She stated, “My fellow people, together we can, together we must, rise to the occasion to make Dominica the most talked about destination in the Caribbean.”
Accordingly, every Dominican has a role to play as tourism ambassadors in an effort to make Dominica the destination of choice.
