FAO, IFAD, PAHO/WHO, UNICEF and WFP will present a report with the latest statistics and trends in food security and nutrition in the region.
On November 9, at 12 pm Chile (11:00 am. Washington, DC and 10:00 am. Panama City, Panama) five UN agencies will present the new edition of the Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition in Latin America and the Caribbean 2023.
The report presents the central figures on hunger, food insecurity, malnutrition in all its forms, and those related to the cost and affordability of a healthy diet.
The latest statistics and trends in the report show that the region has not yet recovered from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors that have affected the progress of food security and nutrition indicators.
According to the report, 43.5 million people in Latin America and the Caribbean suffer from hunger, and at least one in five people cannot access a healthy diet.
Panorama 2023 will be presented through a press conference at Zoom. Authorities and specialists from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Food Program (WFP) will participate.
