Founder of the Dominica Dementia Foundation and Commonwealth Youth Finalist, Rianna Patterson is selected to speak at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting on the 20th of June 2022 in Kigali, Rwanda.
Patterson will be speaking at the Intergenerational session during the Commonwealth Women’s Forum led by CommonAge. CHOGM is a pivotal agenda-setting and decision-making space for the diverse community of 54 Commonwealth countries.
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will also attend the meeting in Kigali.
“It is an ample time to contribute to this discussion as we need collective action to shape our future, especially for people with Dementia as cases are expected to triple by 2050. I truly believe leaders have a duty to ensure that citizens can access the best level of care, research, and resources. Integrating young and older people will open avenues for new solutions to global issues that we face.” Ms. Patterson stated.
Connected by similar traditions, language, governance and legal structures, monarchs, presidents and prime ministers from Africa, the Caribbean and Americas, Europe, Asia and the Pacific, meet every 2 years at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), to explore how they can pool their resources and innovations to transform joint challenges into exciting opportunities.
Rwanda expects up to 500 delegates from multigenerational, stakeholder groups, leaders from different sectors, including civil society, youth, activists, academia, influencers, policy-makers, donors, the private sector, and leaders from all sectors in the Commonwealth and globally.
