Cancer Society To Hold Screening For Cervical Cancer In Roseau

In observance of Cervical Cancer Awareness month which is observed in January, the Dominica Cancer Society(DCS) is encouraging women to have their Pap Smears done.

President of DCS, Yvonne Alexander said, “We really want to encourage women who have not had a Pap Smear done in a while to get the Pap Smear done. Women die as a result of cervical cancer. It is one of the cancers that if detected early can be successfully treated and individuals survive.”

She said further that the DCS will hold cervical cancer screenings at the Roseau Health Center on Saturday 23, January, 2021, to encourage women to get checked.

Alexander who is a cancer survivor herself,  reminded all that detecting cancer early increases one chances of beating the dreadful disease.

Pap Smears may be done at one’s district health center or at a doctor’s office.
