As the race for the Kalinago Chief elections draws nearer, the candidates will engage in a debate on the 19 of July. The debate will take place at the St. Cyr Resource Center.
This race for the next chief will be an interesting one as it has drawn past chiefs, a young candidate and even a woman. Nurse Annette Thomas- Sandford, has decided to throw her hat into the ring to become Carib Chief. If she wins, she will make history in becoming the first female Chief.
Lorenzo Sanford is another interesting new candidate. He is among the youngest to contest and is confident that he can get the young votes as he has been a community man.
These newcomers will face the incumbent, Charles Williams, as well as Elvis Francis, Irvince Remy Auguiste and Jumardine Fredrick. On July 22, the people of the Kalinigo territory will take to the polls to elect their next chief.
