The Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities (DAPD) Inc. successfully convened its 42nd Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 27th May 2026, under the theme: “Sustaining the Disability Movement in a Rapidly Changing Global Environment.”
Among items on the meeting’s Agenda, was the Election of Officers, at which time, three members were elected to its Board of Directors. Re-elected were Judy Sango and Nathalie Murphy. Jessinta Worrell was elected to replace Loik Charles who had tendered his resignation.
These three persons joined four other directors to complete the seven-member governing body of the organization.
On Thursday 4th June 2026, in keeping with its Constitutional mandate, a Special Meeting was held to elect officers to serve in various positions on its Board of Directors for the 2026/2027 term.
The newly constituted Board of Directors comprises:
Together, these leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the rights and opportunities of
persons with disabilities across Dominica and bring dedication, expertise, and vision for the continued growth of the disability movement.
Meanwhile, DAPD is observing June as Membership Outreach Month and undertaking a Membership Drive as activities for the 2026 Calendar of Events continue.
As part of this initiative, visits are being undertaken to communities around the island with a view to re-connect with members who, due to various circumstances, are unable to attend programmes, may have become inactive, and make contact with others who may be interested in becoming members.
Our outreach efforts reflect DAPD’s core mission of inclusion and care. We are committed to
ensuring that every member feels valued and engaged, regardless of their circumstances.
