ROSEAU, Dominica (April 29, 2026) — Dominica strengthened its position in the global cruise market following high-level engagements at Seatrade Cruise Global 2026, held April 13–17 in Miami, where the island advanced discussions aimed at increasing cruise calls and expanding economic impact.
The Dominican delegation, led by Benoit Bardouille, Chairman of the Discover Dominica Authority, included Product Promotions Manager Odile Jno Baptiste and Projects Manager Daphne Vidal of the Discover Dominica Authority, along with representatives from local tour operators Hibiscus Eco Tours, Whitchurch Tours and Fun Sun Inc., reflecting a coordinated national presence.
During the event, the delegation held strategic one-on-one meetings with major cruise partners, including Carnival Corporation, Virgin Voyages, MSC Cruises, Disney Cruise Line and The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. Discussions focused on increasing cruise calls to Dominica, enhancing the island’s tourism product and advancing key infrastructure developments, including the Cable Car Project and the Bayfront Pier Expansion, both expected to improve visitor experience and port operations.
“Our presence at Seatrade was about maintaining strong relationships and creating new opportunities for Dominica. We saw clear interest in the destination, and we are focused on converting that into increased cruise calls and stronger economic impact,” said Bardouille.
Dominica’s cruise sector continues to show strong performance. Between October 2025 and April 2026, the island recorded 244 cruise calls and welcomed approximately 395,950 cruise visitors, representing a 42 percent increase over the same period in the 2024/25 season and an 81 percent increase compared to the 2019/20 pre-pandemic season.
The delegation also secured international media exposure through interviews with Condé Nast Traveler, The Wall Street Journal and Marketplace Excellence, further positioning Dominica within key global travel and business markets.
The cruise industry remains a critical component of Dominica’s economy, supporting over 3,000 jobs, while the wider tourism sector contributes approximately one-third of national GDP. The Government of Dominica continues to prioritize strategic partnerships and infrastructure investment to strengthen the island’s competitiveness and expand its presence in the global cruise market.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
