Minister responsible for Housing and Urban Development Hon. Reginald Austrie announced on Tuesday that Cabinet has approved 26 persons to receive the newly constructed resilient homes in Bellevue Rawle.
He said, “The Government of Dominica over the years in its mission to transform the housing stock of our country with modern resilient housing in partnership with Montreal Management Company(MMCE) is here to confirm and deliver on our promise”.
He said further, “While 26 families will receive the keys to their homes, the greater impact will touch the lives of 114 individuals who will occupy these homes”.
The Bellevue Rawle development contains 3 bedroom units with concrete roof and structure as well as solar water heaters and decorated roof covering for aesthetic purposes.
Eight hundred and ninety- seven homes have been constructed so far under the MMCE programme.
The Minister said that the Government continues to pursue its goal of providing proper housing for its citizens inspite of the negative effects of COVID-19 on the country.
The Minister also expressed condolences to the family of Christopher Timmins, Project Manager of MMCE who passed away in Saturday.
