Dominica celebrates World Teachers Day today with the annual teachers rally held this year at the North East Comprehensive School.

World Teachers Day is observed under the theme, ‘Young Teachers: the Future of the Profession’.The featured speaker for this year’s rally is Senior Program Officer in the Ministry of Education, Simeon Joseph.

President of the Dominica Association of Teachers, Mervin Alexander is calling on young teachers to be committed to the profession. He says that he has met enthusiastic young teachers who desire to remain in the profession but who are concerned about the salary earned.

He is excited about such enthusiasm because as young teachers they are the future of the profession. Internationally, World Teachers Day is observed on October 5, each year.
