World Marriage Day Celebrated in Portsmouth

World Marriage Day was celebrated yesterday, Sunday, February 10, 2019, with a Eucharistic celebration at the Portsmouth Roman Catholic Church.

Married couples all over the country were in attendance where His Lordship Bishop Gabriel Malzaire was the main celebrant along with Father Elveau. Couples who are married for 55 years and more were honoured at the service. Calypsonian De Webb and his wife sang a love song to the other couples during the service. Carlene XP and Cornel Phillip performed at a brunch held at the St. John’s Catholic Primary School, following mass.

World Marriage Day is observed internationally by the Worldwide Catholic Marriage Encounter and it seeks to honour marriage and family as the basic unit of society.
