DUBLIN, Ireland – Sunil Ambris hit his maiden One-day International hundred to lead a record run chase for the West Indies in the Tri-Nation Series today at Malahide.
Ambris stole the headlines with a typically flamboyant 148 that included 19 fours and one six from 126 balls, as the WINDIES successfully chase 328 for victory with 13 balls remaining in the fourth match of the tournament that also involves Bangladesh.
Scores: Ireland 327-5 off 50 overs (Andy Balbirnie 135, Paul Stirling 77, Kevin O’Brien 63; Shannon Gabriel 2-47). West Indies 331-5 off 47.5 overs (Sunil Ambris 148, Roston Chase 46, Jonathan Carter 43 not out, Jason Holder 36, Shai Hope 30; Boyd Rankin 3-65).
The 26-year-old Ambris shared two significant partnerships – with Shai Hope and Roston Chase – to set the foundation for the visitors before Jonathan Carter and WINDIES captain Jason Holder practically formalised the result.
