Youth-led World Water Day Virtual Discussion:  Water, Climate and our Health

Climate change is affecting water quantity and quality.  Combined with improper and ineffective wastewater management, this constitutes a growing problem that threatens our economy, the environment, and public health.

To highlight the connection between water, climate and human health, the Caribbean Sub- regional Program Coordination office of the Pan American Health Organization will host a live discussion, in commemoration of World Water Day 2022. Join us at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 22 LIVE on PAHO TV, YouTube and the PAHO Caribbean Facebook page.

This collaborative effort with partners UNICEF, the Caribbean  Water and Wastewater Association, Caribbean WaterNet/CapNet UNDP, the Faculty of Food and Agriculture of the University of the West Indies and Global Water Partnership Caribbean, aims to  adopt an educational approach to highlight how everyday human practices affect underground water which in turn threatens sustainable development in our region.

The discussion is another informative and targeted activity from the European Union (EU)/CARIFORUM Strengthening Climate Resilient Health Systems project. It will be moderated by UNICEF Eastern Caribbean Advocate, Priyanka Lalla. The expert panel include: UNICEF WaSH in Emergency Preparedness Consultant for the Caribbean, Jaïnil Didaraly; PAHO Youth for Health representative, Esther Marslowe; Independent Water Management Consultant, Adrian Cashman; and, Executive Director, Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association, Wayne Williams.
