Waitikubuli National Trail Update

It is advised that the Hiker be in top condition and prepared for tropical conditions and terrain such as high and low profiles.

Segment One
Most recently the level of difficulty of this segment has been raised to Moderate. The Hiker is expected to rope climb, walk along a gorge and will encounter loose rocks. Advisable for advanced hikers.

Segment Two         
Segment partially closed due to the continued works on the water system in the Soufriere to Tete Morne area by Dowasco. Otherwise, the segment level remains at Difficult and in good condition apart from the
closed section.

Segment Three
In good condition. The Hiker is advised to cross through the river. Please monitor the weather before attempting this segment as the river level may rise in the event of heavy rains.

Segment Four
This Segment is passable. Difficulty level remains at Moderate.

Segment Five
This Segment is passable with minimal vegetative growth and as it is one of our water segments and as such is very soggy.  There is a damaged suspended bridge along this segment located before the Savannah David area over the River L’or.  The Hiker is advised to cross through the river. Do NOT attempt crossing the bridge. Please monitor the weather before attempting this segment as river level may rise in the event of heavy rains. This segment remains an easy family hike.

Segment Six
This Segment is passable with minimal vegetative growth. Difficulty level remains at Moderate to Difficult.

Segment Seven
In Dire need of Maintenance.

Segment Eight
Currently closed. Post Maria Clearance currently at 62%. Not accessible in sections due to lack of access points.

Segment Nine
In Good Condition with very minimal vegetative growth. Remains a very difficult segment.

Segment Ten
High vegetative growth. Level of difficulty remains easy.

Segment Eleven
This Segment is partially closed but in good condition from Syndicate to Rosscastle.

Segment Twelve
In very good condition.  Remains a moderate to difficult segment.

Segment Thirteen
In good condition.

Segment Fourteen
Passable with minimal vegetative growth and a  section of Segment 14 from Douglas Bay to Cabrits remains re-routed. The route continues onto the main road from the Douglas Bay area in Portsmouth, otherwise known as Belle Hall Beach Park, and bypasses the previous trail alongside the beach. It then continues straight in a southerly direction for a three-quarter mile and proceeds right onto the road which leads to Cabrits National Park near Monty’s Fish Grill & Bar. The route continues into the Cabrits National Park, ending near the Officer’s Quarters at Fort Shirley.
