Updated : Death announcement of 71 year old Joannas “Marley” Baptiste also known as “Teacher Marley of Zicack Portsmouth

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Joannas “Marley” Baptiste, age 71, of Zicack, Portsmouth, also known as “Teacher Marley.”

He passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025.

He was a former teacher at the Vielle Case, Penville, Savanne Paille, St. John’s, and Roosevelt Douglas Primary Schools.

He leaves to mourn:

Wife: Nennette Daniel Baptiste
Son: Marcus Baptiste
Daughters: Marette, Marva, Marcia, Megan, Euely, and Marlisa Baptiste Bruno — members of the Dominica Police Force

Grandchildren (10): including Elhan and Eziah Bruno, Avery Jace Seaman

The funeral mass for the late Joannas “Marley” Baptiste (also known as “Teacher Marley”) will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Portsmouth Roman Catholic Church,
followed by interment at the Portsmouth Roman Catholic Cemetery.
