UPDATE: Small Plane Crashed in Dominica

On April 18th 2019, a small plane crashed in the Northern Forest Reserve of Dominica. One person was onboard the aircraft, which was said to be travelling from Martinique to Guadeloupe.

With the aid of a helicopter, the search and rescue team from the French government was able to locate the fallen aircraft. The plane was discovered; and the body of a male individual was found in an unresponsive state. The individual was airlifted to the Douglas Charles airport and was pronounced dead by a medical doctor. Following the pronouncement, the body was then transported to the Lyndhurst Funeral Home pending a post mortem examination.

Earlier this morning, Emonews reported that the plane went down in the heights of Marigot. Although it was based on the first set of coordinates given to the media, Emonews apologizes for the initial report made. Emonews expresses sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased pilot. The identification of the deceased is withheld for the notification to family and confirmation of ID by family. The investigations into this tragedy are ongoing by the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force.
