According to Benoit Bardouille of the Dominica Air and Seaport Authority (DASPA), a search and rescue mission which continued on Monday morning has recovered a bag and passport from the plane crash which occurred in the vicinity of Marigot on Sunday evening.
Bardouille explained that the French-registered aircraft was given clearance to take off from the Douglas Charles Airport for Raizet Airport in Guadeloupe at about 6:43pm. Some minutes after that the air traffic controller attempted to contact the aircraft for a frequency change to Raizet control. He did not make contact with the aircraft. He made several attempts but received no response and was not able to locate the aircraft on radar.
The airport in Guadeloupe was immediately contacted and Douglas Charles control was informed that there was no information on the aircraft. At that point in time, the aircraft was considered to be a missing aircraft.
The fire service was contacted by a private citizen who said that something which resembled an aircraft may have gone down into the sea.Local fishermen were contacted to aid in a search and rescue while the coast guard was commissioned.
The search is still in progress.
