Two Clubs Faced Off Two Times In A Row In First Division League

Promex Harlem Football Club and East Central Football Club has faced each other for the second time in two years in the finals of the Dominica Football Association(DFA) First Division Finals.

Coach of Promex Harlem, Don Leogal said, “The team is very elated…Our commitment to training and sticking together as a Club is what gave us the edge at both the Premier and Division One. We are confident that we can stand toe to toe with any club on Island when we are on our game. We have some of the best football players in the country and we feel that we can be victorious every time we step on the field”.

Promex Harlem United also walked away as the Recovery Knockout Cup Champion. Audel Laville of Harlem was Best Midfielder in the Division One and also Male Youth Player of the Year.

Coach Don Leogal was also named Best Coach of the Division One. He said “I feel elated to be considered as the Best Coach Division One. It’s been years of commitment to the Sport. I can take all the credit though, my assistant coach keron Charles and mr. Julius Boe Gage played a major role in this season. Also, the players, for without them and their commitment to training and their success on the field, it would not have been possible for me to execute my coaching duties”.

Leogal also thanked the  Executive Board of Harlem and the coaching staff for their confidence and trust in him.

Meanwhile Shane Seraphin of East Central FC said, “The team, management and the club on a whole are in high spirit and see our season as a very successful one. Yes, we came short at the end but we won our zone and only lost 2 out of the 12 games played all season. Also we managed to make it to the finals for the second consecutive year. So we really see it as a successful season just falling short of the ultimate goal in the end which was to be champions”.

Coach Seraphin blames injury as what caused them the championship. He said, “I think what cost us the championship was that we sustained some injuries to some key players leading up to the finals and Harlem took advantage of that. So we came out and the players still worked hard but we were second best on that day”. Coach Seraphin congratulates Harlem but is also extremely proud of his players for their hard work throughout the season.

Seraphin said, “Our team is made up of mainly young players and we are going to continue to train and work hard so that we can continue to perform at a high level and play even better football in the coming years. We are already in training as we prepare for the upcoming season set to begin in the coming weeks”.

East Central FC also walked away with the trophies for Most Outstanding Goalkeeper- Dante Challenger and Most Outstanding Defender- Westmore Tulloch.

The clubs were awarded their championship and Runner Up Trophies at the award ceremony of the DFA.
