The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) held the official launching of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Civil Society/ NGO Technical Working Group workshop on Monday.
The workshop which will run from Monday to Wednesday aims to undertake a needs assessment of civil society groups and assist in developing projects to access funding from the GCF.
The workshop was attended by various individuals representing civil society groups including agricultural and fisheries groups, education institutions, community disaster preparedness groups, community development groups as well as the Dominica Association of Persons with a Disability and the Dominica Red Cross.
GCF National Project Coordinator, Michael Savarin, said that the basis of the GCF is to facilitate countries in meeting the pledge made to reduce GreenHouse Gas Emissions. The GCF is a finance mechanism to help countries in changing business and agricultural practices and achieve climate resilience.
