The University of the West Indies in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, the University of Bedfordshire, and the Arts and Humanities Research Council will host the 3rd Creole Conference form the 15-16 of August 2019.
The conference will highlight the language and its significance to Dominica’s culture and will be held under the theme “Creole as Cultural Heritage: Framing, Strengthening and Advocating”.
Head of UWI Open Campus in Dominica, Kimone Joseph says, “There are countries in the world where the Creole language has advanced to national significance and we, in turn, must step up to the plate not only to preserve what we have but to ensure that it takes its place in modern society.”
Joseph said that creole is nobody’s stepchild and hopes that the conference can bring together researchers, cultural leaders, academics, professionals, community members, and students to discuss Creole cultural heritage issues and to exchange ideas and collaborate in order to make Dominica a center of excellence for best practice in the field of Creole.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
