ROSEAU, DOMINICA – May 16, 2025—The Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation (DSWMC) today, through a handing-over ceremony, announced the receipt of a new flatbed truck from the National Authorizing Office (NAO), a crucial acquisition set to significantly strengthen the Corporation’s ongoing recycling initiatives. This vehicle will be custom-fabricated into three distinct sections to optimize its use in recycling waste collection.
The DSWMC has been vigorously emphasizing waste sorting and separation at the source as a fundamental means to enhance recyclable waste collection rates across Dominica. This new truck will play a pivotal role in this strategy, facilitating the efficient collection of sorted recyclable materials.
The Corporation is calling on the general public to actively participate in managing the waste generated at their homes and commercial establishments. This collective effort is essential to transforming Dominica’s waste management landscape. The overarching aim of this new vehicle and the DSWMC’s continued efforts, is to improve recycling and transition the island towards a Circular Economy Approach.
The success of our recycling initiative fundamentally requires the participation of the public. It is an essential requirement that residents separate waste accordingly, specifically glass bottles, cans/tins, and plastic bottles. Residents are further required to bag these items and place them out for collection only on the designated recyclable waste collection day set for their community.
The Corporation continues to encourage residents to sort at source and manage their waste effectively.
The DSWMC extends its sincere gratitude to the National Authorizing Office and the Government of Dominica for making this much-needed vehicle available. The Corporation reiterates that the success of its recycling efforts hinges on every facet of society participating in reducing, reusing, and recycling through proper sorting and storing at the source.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, should be a way of life for every citizen.
Remember, our waste is our responsibility. Join the recycling movement. Together we can reduce the over accumulation of waste on our roadways and in our communities through recycling.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
