The Government of Dominica under the direction of the Ministry of Health has decided to review some of the measures taken since the advent of the COVID-19 disease in Dominica.
In a press briefing on Saturday 25, April, the Honourable Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt announced some revisions to SRO 15 which efffected the COVID-19 measures.
In the revisions to SRO 15, businesses will be allowed to open from 8 am to 4 pm instead of 2 pm as was allowed previously. Further, insurance companies, bookstores and mechanic shops will be allowed to resume business.
The liquor license suspension has been lifted. While persons may purchase alcohol, it must not be consumed at the place of purchase and persons may not go to the bars and sit to drink and socialize. Instead drinks may be purchased but consumers must leave with their purchase.
Further, passenger buses may now carry 2 passengers per seat (previously only 1 passenger per seat was allowed). However, bus owners must make allowances to have passengers hands sanitized, passengers must wear face masks, and windows must remain open as much as possible.The Roseau Market will reopen until 4pm and vendors who use vehicles will be allowed to sell on the Bay Front. This is to prevent the Market from becoming congested and to allow for social distancing among buyers.
The total lockdown of the country on the weekends will remain in effect.
The Prime Minister commended the general public and the Ministry of Health for a job well done.
