BASSETERRE, St Kitts (WINN) — Prime Minister Timothy Harris has brushed off suggestions that there will be early elections in St Kitts and Nevis. He says there is more work to do for the people of the federation.
The talk of early elections was initiated by the representatives of the opposition St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP).
Party leader, Dr Denzil Douglas explained his rationale for the suggestion:
“We know that my case was going to be the trigger for the call of the elections in March. They knew that the court was going to hand down its ruling in February and thus they were going to trigger the elections on February 20 allowing the elections in March, but they got defeated. Dr Harris is searching every day for a time to call the elections, and every time he has tried to call it, he’s being pushed back.”
WINN FM questioned Douglas on why he thinks there would be an early general election. Douglas replied, “From inside intel from their own supporters.”
