On December 10th, the Dominica Infirmary observed Residents awareness week under the theme, ‘Cherishing our Elderly in their Golden Years.’
Officials at the function included the President of Dominica, His Excellency Charles A. Savarin, Peter St. Jean who represented the Minister of Health and Social Services and the Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs, Catherine Daniel.
Two centenarians were the highlights of the activity. Franzillia Lander turned 106 years of old and Mamie Gasper turned 101. Both were showered with gifts from the institution.
Also, Chris Moore owner of Spa de Ceellyse made a donation of $1000.00 to the Infirmary.
The management also awarded special plaques to the St. Patrick Parish for their donations of grocery items and fresh produce over the years, the Government Band for always gracing the infirmary with music at Christmas, Jays Ltd. for donations for over 40 years and Mr. Arnold Williams for his barbering services to the residents over 5 years.
To culminate the activity, an exhibition was on display and Carlyn Xavier Phillip, Julien Riviere, and the Smith’s brothers graced the residents with some entertainment.
