Prominent Business Owner calls for vaccines to be made mandatory

On Wednesday 8th September, 2021, the Dominica Business Forum Inc. hosted its 3rd virtual discussion on the topic “All Hands on Deck, Let’s Fight Covid-19 Together”.

Among the members for this virtual discussion were Mr. KarlJ.Nassief, CEO of Trading International Group (Karl Nassief Group of Companies), Mr.Thomas Letang, General Secretary of the Dominica Public Service Union, Mr. John Robin, President of the Dominica Manufacturers Association and Mr. Anthony Leblanc, President of the Builders and Contractors Association of Dominica.

During the discussion, Mr. Nassief called for vaccines to be made mandatory. He stated, “We need to mandate vaccines or make it extremely hard for the non-vaccinated to be around the vaccinated. We see with the current problem of the lack of vaccinations a lot of economic and social damage come in.”

He opined, “Vaccines are safe and effective and that’s a fact.” To support his argument, Nassief argued that the Laws of Dominica provide for mandatory vaccinations. Hence, he believes that the leaders, unions, churches and others ought to take a less myopic approach and should embrace the responsibility to advocate for vaccinations to be made mandatory.

According to him, if we fail to accept mandatory vaccinations, there will be a continual degradation of our people and our island. Thus, he believes that there is no other possible solution to combat this ongoing pandemic.
