Prime Minister Urges Police To Remain Restrained In Light Of Peaceful Gatherings

The Dominica United Workers Party is scheduled to begin a series of peaceful gatherings from today, Monday 30 September in an effort to force the Prime Minister to account for the alleged missing 1.2 billion dollars from the National Budget.

Speaking at the launching of the DLP candidate for the Roseau Valley Constituency, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit urged the police force to remain in a restrained manner. In reference to the purpose of the peaceful gatherings, the prime minister said that it is not about finding any money but instead a ‘sinister campaign against the CBI program’.

Skerrit said, ” What they want next week is enough footage of their activities to display across social media. They want to create enough confusion so as to force authorities in Europe and North America to blacklist Dominica’s passport”.

The Prime Minister also said that if Linton was truly interested in finding the alleged missing money all he has to do is summon a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee and ask questions the relevant public officers. Further, he (Linton) could also ask direct questions in the Parliament of Dominica.

The Prime Minister urged his supporters to walk away from any confrontation. He reminded them that they ‘have been and will continue to be a party of peace and love’.
