The Honourable Prime Minister and the Dominica Public Service Union will meet during the first week of June 2026 to discuss a number of concerns which have been brought to the attention of the Unions’ leadership by faculty and staff of the Dominica State College (DSC).
Some of the issues surfaced during and post the passage of Hurricane Maria while others preceded that event.
The decision to seek the Prime Minister’s intervention followed the conclusion of discussions held between the Unions Leadership and members at the College who were frustrated with the protracted unresolved matters and were contemplating protest action.
The meeting with the Honourable Prime Minister will seek to amicably resolve those concerns which include but not limited to:
• Insufficient subvention to the College
• The long delay in the appointment of a President
• Incomplete physical repairs to the institution
• Non appointment of a large number of staff
• The process and delay in the implementation of recommendations arising from a job evaluation and classification exercise
The opportunity will be taken to discuss enhancing the overall governance and operations of the College.
