PM asks Where will Opposition get Resources to Run the Country

At a meeting catered to diasporans at Jungle Bay, Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit took to the podium to address the opposition United Workers Party.

The Prime Minister said that while there are those who protested for the Marigot hospital and gave the impression that the DLP Government was not interested in the Marigot hospital, now that the contract is signed, they are protesting against it.

He said that the same kind of behavior was seen in relation to electoral reform. In his opinion, while there have been protests for reform, when the legislation is brought before Parliament, the same people try to stone the Parliament. He says that this playing games with people’s lives.

Further, the Prime Minister believes that politics in Dominica is way different than it has ever been. He cites as example squabbles between the late former Prime Minister, Dame Mary Eugenia Charles and Mike Douglas and says that while they fought in Parliament, Douglas never went out of Dominica and said negative things about the country.

The Prime Minister said that there is a need to be statesmen when it comes to Dominica. He says further that anyone desirous of leading a country, he should be able to articulate a plan of development and say where he will be getting the resources to put that plan into action.
