PAHO/WHO Hands Over Advanced HIV Testing and Treatment Supplies to Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Health

PAHO/WHO has officially handed over advanced HIV disease testing and treatment materials valued at more than USD $41,000 to the Ministry of Health in Trinidad and Tobago.

The supplies are expected to strengthen early diagnosis and treatment of serious infections such as tuberculosis, histoplasmosis, and cryptococcal meningitis among people living with HIV.

The support forms part of the Unitaid-funded Advanced HIV Disease Project and is aimed at improving patient care and saving lives while advancing efforts to eliminate HIV as a public health issue by 2030 under the PAHO Elimination Initiative.

Among those present at the official handover ceremony were Minister of Health Dr. Lackram Bodoe, PAHO/WHO Representative Dr. Gabriel Vivas Francesconi, Permanent Secretary Erica Fortune, Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jeanine St. Bernard, and several senior health officials and advisors involved in HIV/AIDS coordination and public health programmes.

Health officials say the initiative represents another important step toward strengthening healthcare systems and improving outcomes for persons living with HIV in Trinidad and Tobago.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
