The United Workers Party at a press conference today officially announced that Nurse Annette Thomas Sanford will replace Dr. Worrel Sanford as the candidate for the Salybia Constituency.

Nurse Sanford is no stranger to public life having run for the Kalinago Chief elections recently. She is also the wife of Claudius Sanford who ran on a UWP ticket for two past elections.

Nurse Sanford thanked the people for accepting her as their candidate and put forth her comprehensive plans for the territory. She says, ” I stand to serve and I stand because I believe that Antrizzle and the Kalinago Territory deserve more enlightened political leadership for this progressive era and I sincerely believe that I am capable of providing this visionary leadership”.

Her vision is to build a care facility for the people of the East. Further, she sees the need for a full revision of the Carib Act to reflect the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People, a loan facility, expansion of primary health care, creation of youth centers, enhance economic growth, revitalization of agriculture and support for participation in the arts among other things.

Sandford says that she chose to run on the UWP Team Dominica ticket because this is the party with the “best plans and the best team of people”.
