Forging Strong Linkages between Local Agriculture Producers and Buyers “Inclusive of Women and Youth”

WUSC Caribbean (Dominica) Inc. as part of the Canada- funded Sustainable Agriculture in the Caribbean (SAC) project is hosting a National Dialogue: Forging Strong Linkages between Local Agriculture Producers and Buyers “Inclusive of Women and Youth”. This Dialogue is scheduled for Wednesday, November 09, 2022, from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Goodwill Parish Hall, Roseau, Dominica, and is convened in collaboration with The Ministry of Blue and Green Economy Agriculture, and National Food Security, the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Entrepreneurship, Business, and Export Development and Partners including Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC), Dominica Export Import Authority (DEXIA) and Dominica Bureau of Standards (DBOS).

At this National Dialogue, feature presentations will be delivered by Dunstan Demille, Perishables Manager at Massy Saint Lucia, and Jade Hutchinson, Technical Lead at Guru Saint Lucia as they share experiences and lessons learnt on the inclusive market systems implemented in Saint Lucia. Massy Stores with the support of Guru has had success in involving local agricultural producers (inclusive of women and youth) as a large part of its supply chain for fresh produce, which seems to be a win-win for both parties in Saint Lucia.

The National Dialogue is designed to motivate market actors in Dominica to provide more opportunities for the participation of local producers inclusive of women and youth in the selected agricultural market systems.
