The Ministry of Agriculture has continued its post-recovery support efforts for farmers in the East Agricultural Region following the April 2026 trough system.
In collaboration with the Chinese Agricultural Technical Mission at One Mile, Portsmouth, the Ministry this week began distributing 120 seedling trays of cabbage, lettuce, bell peppers, pak choi, tomatoes, cauliflower, and celery to farmers in the region.
The Ministry said the initiative is part of a wider programme aimed at assisting approximately 200 vegetable farmers over the next three weeks. The support programme is expected to continue for the next six months to help farmers establish quick cash crops, diversify production, and generate faster income opportunities.
Farmers will also receive seeds for cucumber, pumpkin, watermelon, okra, and string beans to complement crop production efforts.
The Ministry is encouraging the public to support local farmers by purchasing locally grown produce, noting that stronger local agriculture contributes to healthier families and improved national food security.
