Massive Search Scheduled For Saturday 8 April For Missing French National

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force(CDPF) has callled on the general public to assist in a massive search for missing French national Marion Hermier. A French helicopter as well as investigators will be on island to join in this massive search of the trail. The French authorities are expected to concentrate their efforts on the northern segments of the Waitukubuli National Trail.

Superintendent Anthony Lawrence of the CDPF explained that persons are asked to join search teams which will be led by a police officer who would take the lead if anything of interest is found. These search teams will concentrate on the southern segments of the trail.

Lawrence said that reports indicate that Hermier arrived in Dominica on February 4 and that the French canine unit concluded that she was definitely on segments 4 and 5. He added that social media posts surrounding her disappearance began making rounds on the February 26 but no official report was filed around the time the posts were circulated. This he said greatly hampered the response of the CDPF.

Hermier’s parents who are in Dominica,  describes her as a responsible, strong, resourceful, brilliant and independent young woman who wanted to challenge herself by hiking the Waitukubuli National Trail. They are confident that she will be found alive.

French investigators were on island on February 27 with a canine unit and a drone searching certain segments of the trail, however, there was nothing of substance found.
