MAHAUT VILLAGE FAIR TO PROVIDE PLATFORM FOR LOCALLY MADE GOODS AND FOR VILLAGE VENDORS OF CONSUMER GOODS

A specially curated Village Fair for the promotion of locally made goods and for vendors of consumers items will form part of the Fete St. Anne 2023 celebrations  to take place at the Zaman Park, Belfast, Mahaut starting from 2:30 p.m. on Thursday 27th and all day on Friday 28th July, 2023.

The Mahaut Village Fair is a new addition to the Fete St. Anne programme in this west coast village and is expected to provide spaces and a platform for a number of producers of locally made goods including those in the health and wellness, food and drinks, craft, garment, agriculture and other products. The fair will also feature the diverse range of products of the DCP Successor, one of the leading manufacturers on Dominica and a long-established entity operating in the community. In addition, some of the wholesale outlets based in the area and a number of persons in the informal trading sector will also have goods and consumer items on display and for sale at the two day Fair.   

The Fete St. Anne 2023 is a joint effort of the Massacre Events Committee and the newly formed Fete St. Anne’s Committee of Mahaut, and will deliver a programme of activities as part of the week-long celebrations. The celebrations which began with the Novena in honor of St. Anne and St. Joachim from July 17 to 25th has so far included a Breadfruit Brunch which took place at the St. Clement’s House in Belfast and the Second Edition of the Massacre Dwive,  both held on Saturday 22nd July.  The celebrations continues on Wednesday, July 26th with the Feast Day Mass at the St. Martin de Porres Church in Canefield, from 7:00 p.m.

The celebrations moves into full gear for rest of the week with the Mahaut Village Fair on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th July. The Parish Domino Competition which is now on, will culminate with the grand finals on Thursday 27th, from 6:30 p.m.  A Cadence-Lypso and Calypso Show is carded for Friday night, July 28th, for only $20.00 and will feature a galaxy of Dominican singers and performers in both the Cadence-lypso and Calypso genres all backed up by Dominica’s longest surviving band, the Swinging Stars. Friday’s Show will also pay tribute to the legendary Mahaut band, the Belles Combo.  The summer’s biggest Cooler Fete, the Summer Cool Out – a Premium Cooler Fete, will be held on Saturday 29th July, from 4:00 p.m to midnight featuring Signal Band and other entertainers. All of these activities will be held at the Zaman Park, Belfast, Mahaut.

Fete St. Anne 2023 will climax with a Blockorama and street jam on the Campbell Road in Mahaut on Sunday 30thJuly, between 6:00 p.m. and Midnight, with an entertainment package made up of the infectious music of the Swinging Stars and the Triple Kay along with DJ RIO and DJ Flip.

The people of Massacre and Mahaut welcome the visiting pilgrims and patrons to its scheduled activities and look forward to providing the greatest level of hospitality and enjoyment to those who will be part of the celebrations.

The Parliamentary Representative for Mahaut Hon Cassani Laville, Belfast Estate, Ada Trucking and Digicel (Dominica).  Additional support provided by the Mahaut/Jimmit/Tarou Village Council, Creole Heartbeat and Wadix, Fine Food Inc, Discover Dominica Authority and a number of local volunteers.
