On Saturday 7, November, the Mahaut Bus Drivers Association(MBDA) held a bus sanitization activity for all members of the association.

The Association collaborated with the National Pest and Termite Control to have buses sanitized in accordance with COVID-19 protocols.

President of the MBDA, Bernard Coipel said that COVID-19 has impacted bus drivers in the Mahaut area terribly as persons do not go out as before. The situation has gotten even worse since the area was named as a ‘hotspot’ of COVID-19.

He said that the sanitization activity is to demonstrate to the public the association’s commitment to their safety.

According to Coipel, this activity will be held on a weekly basis as the sanitizing solution lasts for about a week. He expressed gratitude to National Pest and Termite Control who provided the service free of charge.

Mr. Pacquette, a member of the MBDA, said that he is pleased with the activity aimed at reassuring the public that it is safe to use the buses. He mentioned how difficult it has been not been able to earn sufficient income during the previous lockdown and the reduced number of passengers which was mandated.

Further, Pacquette expressed dissatisfaction with the Agricultural and Industrial (AID) Bank in relation to accessing the funds which are supposed to be available to bus drivers. While he provided all initial documents, the bank keeps asking for more, making the process quite frustrating and tiresome. He is yet to access any funds and is at the threshold of just giving up.

The sanitization activity was held on the Pottersville Savannah.
