This summer, Dominica’s top comedians will vie for the biggest laugh from the Dominican public as they battle for the top spot in the first ever “Laugh out Loud Dominica” comedy competition, set for Saturday 6th August 2022 at the Goodwill Parish Hall and online.
Jointly organised by non-partisan community group, National Joint Action Movement (NJAM) and multimedia company Media House, the event seeks to revitalise the live theatre industry,
which has been on a lull for the past few years and to expose Dominicans to non-traditional careers
in the Creative Sector
“With COVID-19, Dominicans have been inside for the most part- isolated and longing for something fun to do,” says event organiser Amanda Barrie. “Now that restrictions have eased somewhat, we can’t think of a better medicine than a dose of laughter to bring Dominicans together and make them feel good and uplifted in these trying times.”
Participation in the comedy show is open to all Dominicans who believe they have what it takes
to make the crowd laugh out loud. Registration opens on June 1st and ends on June 30th. On July 2nd an elimination exercise will be carried out and the top ten will head to the finals.
“LOL Dominica” will be dedicated to the memory of Michael Bruney and will be a tribute to Dr. Alwin Bully; two long-contributing artists who have over fifty years contributed to the development of the theatre movement in Dominica. Highlights of the event will include a guest
performance by well-known comedian Franklyn Moses and a reenactment of the famous character,
Gwobeh, of the radio serials Green Gold and Winds of Change, of the 1970s and 80s.
Persons interested in registering for “LOL Dominica” comedy competition, can contact NJAM
or Media House at email: njamdominica@gmail.com or visit the National Joint Action Movement/ Media House Facebook pages for more information

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
